The Short 2000-2001 Season Recap |
With an impressive 28-4-2 season and two tournament victories (Nittany Lion Invitational and Two Nations Cup in Toronto), the Penn State Icers won the ACHA Division I Championship in Arizona. This was the Icers third championship in the last four seasons, and achieved back to back victories the last two seasons. The Icers were second place in the rankings before the tournament, but achieved first place in the final rankings after the tournament.
Graduating seniors at the end of the season were Mike Blevins (Civil
Engineering), Alon Eizenman (Finance - Honors College), and Greg Held (Psychology).
Their senior record was 111-20-7. It was also the fourteenth season
for Head Coach Joe Battista who now had a 366-93-20 at the end of the season.
Eizenman also
made fourth place in total points in Penn State history with a total
95 goals and 165 assists.
The team also sent players for Team USA in the World University Games in Poland.
